Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident made him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
